Project LIFT is giving a whole new meaning to the phrase “comfort food.” Sean O’Grady shares how this Palm City nonprofit is empowering local youth with a new nutrition centric program:
In partnership with the Cleveland Clinic Martin Health organization, Project LIFT is welcoming Palm City youth to a 12-week nutrition program. Thanks to a $15,000 grant, the nonprofit was able to build an on-site commercial kitchen at the Clinic. Project LIFT has made good on that commitment and now, they’re sharing the flavor with youth in need.
Project LIFT is a nonprofit that provides youth with support in the way of mental health counseling and vocational skill training. This new nutrition based project will now center around teaching teens ages 14 – 19 about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet. Through creative culinary lessons guided by dieticians, participants in the program will be well on their way to implementing a nutritionally balanced diet in their lives. The leading psychotherapist and CEO of Project LIFT, Bob Zaccheo expressed that he believes this program could be incredibly beneficial for the teens’ mental health. After all, in Sean O’Grady’s experience, a healthy diet is at the core of your physical and mental health!
